This is worth reading. Having watched a friend (and single mother) earn her master's degree on-line, I became convinced that it was actually harder to succeed academically on-line than in the classroom precisely because it requires discipline and engagement while receiving much more limited support and reinforcement.

I certainly never expected to love it, let alone come to believe in it as a matter of social justice and feminist practice. Yet much to my surprise, I do.
