Park Square is pleased to announce the placement of Dr. Craig Halberstadt as Chief Scientific Officer at VitroLabs. VitroLabs is a biomaterials startup company focused on developing leather, fur, and other products without harming animals. The company develops a fully scalable 3D tissue engineering platform combining the latest breakthroughs in stem cell-based technologies.
Prior to joining VitroLabs, Halberstadt served as Senior Vice President, Product Development at Asterias Biotherapeutics. He joined Asterias in 2015 and oversaw the process development, analytical technologies and engineering functions for the company’s cell therapy programs.
Previously, Halberstadt held various roles at Organovo from 2012-2015, ultimately serving as Vice President, Process Development, where he led all process development activities for exVive3D, a 3D liver tissue product. From 2007-2012, he was Senior Director, Process Development and Engineering at Tengion, responsible for developing processes for the manufacture of regenerative medicine products. Earlier in his career, Halberstadt spent 13 years in tissue engineering R&D roles at the Carolinas HealthCare System, Desmos, and Advanced Tissue Sciences.
Halberstadt received his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Michigan and his B.S. in Microbiology, also from the University of Michigan.
